We’ve put together a list of the most FAQs so you may find the answer you’re looking for here.  If you have any other questions, please contact us at Clover Leaf.

How long will it take from placing my order to dispatch?

We aim to dispatch all signs within 3 weeks of ordering. In busy times it might take a little longer, please check out our shop page for current lead-times.

Can I collect my sign?
Yes you can. Please purchase your sign online and at the checkout click the ‘Collection’ button. If you have chosen this option, we will be in touch when your sign is ready to arrange collection.
I can’t find the right size

No problems, please e-mail info@cloverleafsignsandmemorials.co.uk or call us on 07751 674021 in the first instance and we will do our best to help.

My sign needs to be read from a longer distance, what colour and font are best?
White is the best colour as it has the most contrast between itself and the slate. This is followed by either cream or blue, then silver and grey, which both show the engraving depth of well. Gold is probably the most difficult to read in poor light but again looks fantastic with its reflective colour which shows the V-carving off well. In terms of font, Arial is plain and is the easiest to read.
How thick is the slate?

The sign slate is approximately 16mm thick.

We feel this is a good compromise between looking like a thin roof tile and being too thick and resembling a paving slab. The memorials range from 20mm – 75mm thick depending on individual preference.

Do you post outside the UK?

We currently deliver to the UK mainland only.

Why do you use Welsh slate?

We have been using various slates from around the world since the turn of the last century for hearths, worktops and memorials.

Sourcing from within the UK reduced the carbon footprint and we have also found that for sheer durability and looks, the Welsh dark grey slate comes out on top.

Can I cancel my order?

Yes but only if it is within 24 hours of ordering. Due to the bespoke nature of the sign we do not accept cancelations after this period.

Can I come and see the signs and memorials?

Yes you can.  All our signs can be seen here at Manthorpe and we also have a small range of memorials on display. However, we do ask you make an appointment with us prior to visiting via email or telephone.

This is to ensure someone is on site to help you as we are often offsite fitting memorials or collecting material etc.

What guarantee do you offer with the signs?

We offer a lifetime guarantee against colour changing or delamination of the slate and 5 years on the paint for flaking etc. However, in reality, the sign paint will probably last a lifetime with repainting rarely required.

How do I maintain my sign?

Clean with plain water and a cloth to remove dirt, dust and cobwebs etc.  Should you wish to colour- enhance your sign, the face can be oiled using a little wd40 which will darken the slate and remove any oily finger marks.

Please note:  this is purely for cosmetic reasons as the slate is impervious to water and unlike other stones and some slates, does not require sealing against the elements.

Do you provide fixings?

Yes we do.  All our signs come with pre-drilled holes, wall plugs and screws. However, should you not require pre-drilled holes, please choose this option on checkout.

Can you provide secret fixings?

Yes we can provide dowels for glueing into the back of the sign so you can affix it to a wall or fence without the need for screwing.  However, it is fiddlier to fit as you need to hold the sign whilst the dowels set in the wall and difficult to remove should you want to change the sign.

Can you speak welsh?

Nid ar hyn o bryd ond rydym yn gweithio arno 😉
